8 Years Worth of Passion
It is so hard to believe that the Against The Grain Productions team has been raising awareness and funds for orphanages starting in Vietnam but now Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines since it's founding in 2009. It was so empowering to be able to listen to co-founder and president of ATG, Tammy Nguyen Lee, speak at the 8th annual Fashion for a Passion event. Her hard work and dedication, along with that of the rest of the ATG team has led to raising tons of funds, $43,000 alone at last years F4P event. The organization also awards scholarships to talented and passionate Asian American high school seniors, college undergrads and graduate students, over 30 since 2011.
Being the guests of one of my favorite local designer's and good friend, Danh of Danh Ta could not have been more perfect! With amazing cocktails, delicious food from Chino Chinatown and a multitude of live performances, the evening could not have been more perfect!
Obviously the bites and sips were delicious, but the real jewel of the evening was the fashion! I was of course the most impressed with my friend Danh's newest collection. Rebranding his feel somewhat, this collection was fresh and edgy and just spot on! The color palette and textiles were very on trend and the silhouettes sexy. Me favorites had to be any of the ones utilizing leather!
Not only were the looks from Danh Ta amazing, but other local designers did not disappoint. A few of the best had to be Nine Muses and Danny Nguyen Couture! Nine Muses always put on an incredible show full of innovative and fabulous designs! I personally had never seen DNC's designs but was blown away by the construction. So gorgeous! I was so overly impressed with this amazing event and all the ATG org stands for! Such an incredible display of passion. Can't wait till next year!
