The Great, The Sad and The Down Right Bad from 2017 Oscars

From someone who expects nothing but AMAZING things from the Oscar's red carpet, some stars killed it, while many fell very short! Here's to hoping that the Met Gala doesn't let me down this year too........ ANYWAYS back to those who looked amazing! Here are some of my favorite looks of the night!

The first three, of the six ladies I have picked as my top looks are Nicole Kidman, Janelle Monae and Emma Stone! Something that all three of these ladies had in common were heavily embellished dresses. Nicole Kidman stunned in a sequin, mandala-esque, embellished Armani Privé gown, that fit like a glove! Never shying from a show stopping gown, Janelle Monae looked out of this world in a bold Elie Saab gown. I loved it! And per usual, Emma Stone embodied Hollywood in this glam, fringe covered Givenchy gown, all of which really made her stand out on the red carpet!

Thankfully, some of the men really shined on the red carpet! While I am slightly iffy on the bowtie, John Legend looked so sleek in his Gucci tux. My favorite men's look of the evening for sure went to Riz Ahmed wearing an amazing navy Ermenegildo Zegna tux. The navy was the perfect hue, as sometimes navy can be too dark! I also really enjoyed how well tailored Andrew Garfield's Tom Ford tux, was a classic and sleek look!

The final three ladies who OWNED the red carpet last night are Taraji P Henson, Viola Davis and Brie Larson. The three are just gorgeously styled and flawless! Navy velvet? Who would have thought that Taraji P Henson could look as sexy and amazing as she did in a navy velvet dress? Props to Alberta Ferretti for this stunning dress and TJH for the best dress she has worn all rewards season! In a red Armani Prive gown that makes you forget all about the red carpet, Viola Davis may never find a better dress for her! In my FAVORITE dress of the night, Brie Larson looked phenomenal in this Oscar De La Renta black velvet gown! JUST BREATH TAKING.

An an honorable mention, who didn't actually walk the red carpet, to Amy Adams in this GORGEOUS Tom Ford gown!

First came the GREAT, now we are at "The Sad"..... These women weren't AWFUL but they sure missed the mark by a good amount.

My "sad" looks go to Kate McKinnon, Scarlett Johansson and Felicity Jones.

For Kate McKinnon, this is just a sad, department store prom dress that she found at a thrift store. Awful? Yes. The worst? No, which is SO SAD, as that then means there are worse looks than an outdated prom dress.

Scarlett Johansson, this is just a few mistakes from a stylist and possibly a designer. I personally hate the pattern of the fabric, but the real travesty is putting that heinous belt on top of the Alaia gown. Neckline, great. Length, great. Fullness of skirt, great. Fabric choice, gross. Belt, tacky.

Felicity Jones has been STRUGGLING this year with red carpet looks. This Dior gown looks like something a middle aged ballerina would wear. The bust is saggy. Waistline makes her look lumpy. Length is confusing. And top it off with those shoes and a lack of any kind of interesting jewelry and you get this ballerina snooze-fest. Just blah.

Now we have gone from "sad" to just god awful BAD. These four ladies just lost me completely.

Who is Teresa Palmer's stylist? They need to be killed. This young star aged so quickly in this look. I am ashamed to say that this musty looking gown is Prada. From the "intentional" wrinkling (was it intentional?), to the odd waistline to the addition of the saddest little belt I've ever seen, this look is just upsetting. She looks like a used tissue, tied together with rope. I like the straps..... I guess.... but other than that there is nothing to comment positively on.

WHO allowed Blanca Blanco onto the red carpet?! Not only did she flash her cooch to the entire red carpet multiple times, she looks like a train wreck. Cover everything but her head up and you could imagine something not heinous. As someone who loves a bold yellow gown on the red carpet, this just appalls me. The shoulders? What are those? Did she look in a mirror before she left her house? And again with the midget belt...... GET THAT BELT OUT OF HERE!!

Oh yay, in walks Dakota Johnson wearing the inside of a 17th century coffin as a dress. We go from 50 Shades to 50 feet underground. Gucci, what are you doing? Does someone have it out for Johnson? Oh lets throw on a necklace, that'll save the look, SAID NO ONE. And the bow? WHY?

Have you ever imagined what a live chicken wrapped in tin foil would look like? Well just take a quick look at Sofia Boutella! How in the world did Chanel make this?! Did we not get enough of the weird drop waist feather nightmare from Katy Perry at the Grammys? Why is it back for more?! She could have at least saved her hair, but no, just brush it to one side, call it a day. Is she playing the feather duster in the new live action Beauty and the Beast? Did she forget to change when she left set? How did a stylist allow this? All questions that she should have asked before getting out of the car at the Oscars.
