It is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since the world was introduced to Miranda Priestly and her Runway empire. As an avid fan of the film, The Devil Wears Prada and also a lover of all things Meryl Streep, when I heard there was going to be a 10th anniversary screening of this iconic fashion film, I jumped!

As Stanley Tucci's character, Nigel, professed his love for fashion at a young age, I myself became fascinated with fashion upon seeing this film. While some would have been turned off by the cut throat nature that the fashion industry was portrayed as in the film, it made me want to be a part of it even more! As I grew up, I got the mindset that the industry wasn't for me, that I belonged more in the political realm, but as the cards fell, I sucked right back into fashion. Starting my path by joining THE FASHIONISTAS and working as their social media intern. While the Dallas fashion industry isn't as cut throat as that portrayed in New York, it still always keeps you on your feet.

The concept of leaving all your past goals, to plunge yourself into the rough waters of the fashion is a concept that so many of us can relate to. The industry is ever changing and to get to the point of power that Miranda Priestly had in the movie, is a goal almost all of us wish to achieve. While almost none of us are on that characters level, we are almost all more like Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway's characters, the hardworking, cutthroat, lowest level of the totem pole, just working our way up. The perk of the fashion industry is that uniqueness, hard-work and drive really is what helps you grow and flourish. The real question though, that everyone wants to know, is how did Anna Wintour react to being the source material for Meryl Streep's character?

For a film that really was groundbreaking for the fashion industry, it was obvious that tribute had to be paid. I was so thankful for FGI Dallas and Wade College sponsoring this incredible red carpet event, where I loved getting to laugh with fellow fashion enthusiasts! Make sure you check out FGI Dallas' Facebook page for more amazing opportunities like this event to help support their charitable works!
