As the start of Red Carpet season kicked off, it was sad to see that there were more slight misses and complete fails, than wins for the celebrities on the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet. With that being said, there were some pretty fantastic looks! Helping me out, I have commentary from 4 of my most trusted friends and Dallas fashion experts!

Ken Weber: owner of Vintage Martini and
Regional Director of the Dallas FGI branch.
Dawn Mellon: The Savvy Stylist herself, one
of Dallas' leading stylist and board member
of FGI Dallas.
Leah Frazier: Founder/editor-in-chief of
Inspire N Style and owner of Think Three
Media.
LeeAnne Locken: One of Bravo's Real
Housewives of Dallas and Vice President
of THE FASHIONISTAS.
The Best Dressed List!

Looks left to right: Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad, Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra, Emma Stone in Valentino, Jessica Biel in Elie Saab, Hailee Steinfeld in Vera Wang

I, personally, am just in awe at how incredible Collins looks! This Zuhair Murad gown is the perfect fit and color for the actress, showing us just how refined her style taste has become.
LeeAnne Locken: "I am normally a HUGE FAN of Zuhair Murad but this dress just doesn’t feel like it fits in at the Golden Globes! It’s too “ball gown” for an awards show."
Leah Frazier: "Lily Collins looked stunning in her gown and was one of the few who pulled off the fairy tale inspired gowns for the evening."
Dawn Mellon: "During her interview with ET, Lily Collins said her dress was ‘really heavy.’ That, in my opinion, was a warning she didn’t heed. The top of the gown was stunning, but the bottom half was definitely too heavy…too much fabric…too much lace…too much…period. I would have traded in the prom-dress-like-bottom for a much more sleek and sophisticated style. Her hair and makeup were completely on point."

Did I ever expect myself to be in complete love with one of the most perfect and androgynous looks that i've seen on the red carpet in a while? No, but Evan Rachel Wood's custom tailored Altuzarra menswear suit was utter perfection! Modeling herself in honor of David Bowie and to show little girls everywhere that you don't HAVE to wear a dress, she wins for amazing ensemble and great purpose!
Ken Weber: "Perfection. Drop the mic......Done!"
Dawn Mellon: "While I admire Evan Ray Wood’s omage to David Bowie and Marlene Dietrich, I must admit the whole look felt a little flat for me. I enjoy women in traditional menswear when they opt to maintain a measure of feminism. For example, when Amy Poehler wore a tuxedo to the Golden Globes in 2013, she opened the collar to show off a beautiful diamond necklace and wore her hair in a modern updo. Except for the white bow, Woods ensemble along with her uber masculine hairstyle was a bit too costume-like for my taste."
LeeAnne Locken: "I get it and I love a GREAT Tux but
it’s just too “gender neutral” for me!"

With a star themed Valentino gown fitting for the Lala Land actress, Emma Stone looked like the old Hollywood star we have been needing! The soft pink color and silver star embellishments, paired with the great low neckline was a stunning choice for the Golden Globe winner!
Dawn Mellon: "Aside from the star-shaped embellishments which were far too literal, I loved everything about Emma Stone’s dress. The color was very flattering against her beautiful pale skin. The style was sexy, but sophisticated. Her hair and makeup were flawless. Bravo, Emma!"

With one of the most interesting and different looks of the evening, Jessica Biel honestly slayed in this uniquely designed Elie Saab gown! I just love the embellishments and the overall color scheme, plus could the low cut top be any sexier?
Leah Frazier: "Out of all of these looks, Jessica Biel definitely gets my vote. She effortlessly pulled off a deep plunging neckline and thigh high slit gown without making it tasteless. From the colors to the fit to the simplicity of this gown, Jessica Biel was definitely one of the best dressed."
Dawn Mellon: "I love that Jessica Biel ‘owned’ her dress, she was confident and her hubby was clearly proud of her. That, I’m afraid, is where it ends for me. Choose one - cleavage or legs. Not both. The colorful and rather large flowers combined with the full skirt just didn’t read ‘Hollywood glamour."
LeeAnne Locken: "When Justin Timberlake is your “arm candy” you CAN’T GO WRONG! If I had a body like that it wouldn’t matter WHAT dress I had on.She NAILED IT! Love the dress! Plunging necklines
was the fashion star of the night and this dress didn’t
disappoint."
Ken Weber: "In Love! Jessica Biel in Elie Saab. New,
daring, elegant and fun. I love the plunging halter
neckline and the mens belt at the waist. Maybe a few
too many flower appliqués, but I forgive."

While I truly have been loving her style evolution, I never thought that she would give me probably my FAVORITE look from the evening! One, a color that no one else even came near and two, a silhouette that is so different compared to the rest just really makes this look a standout to me! I see you Vera Wang!
LeeAnne Locken: "Anyone who knows me KNOWS how much I love purple! The open shoulder the front slit and plunging neckline. This dress was stunning!"
Ken Weber: "I have to say....Hailee Seinfeld in Vera Wang. This is what happens when a Quinceanera dress and a stripper pole mate."
The Worst Dressed List....

Looks from left to right: Winona Ryder in Viktor and Rolf, Kerry Washington in Dolce and Gabanna, Carrie Underwood in Iris Serban, Felicity Jones in Gucci

When did funeral attire become ok for the red carpet? I know its been FOREVER since you've been invited Winona but god could you have tried a little harder, instead of pulling something off a corpse you found in the Upside Down (Stranger Things joke)
Leah Frazier: "if all else fails, yes you should go for black. But this dress definitely falls short of anything spectacular and looks like she pulled it from her closet on a last minute decision."
Dawn Mellon: "Winona Ryder was nominated for her role in ‘Stranger Things,’ which apparently she took very seriously as she looked a bit ‘strange’ last night. Her seemingly off-the-rack dress was trumped only by her ‘dazed and confused’ look on the red carpet."
LeeAnne Locken: "Hey Winona, WHO DIED HONEY?? Too plain! Too simple! Too BLACK! Looks like a bridesmaid dress! Sorry girl!"
Ken Weber: "First off, I was amazed that the gown was designed by the Dutch fashion house, Viktor & Rolf. As art for wear designer's this gown certainly falls
flat. My first instinct was Winona dug this old 1980s Victor
Costa dress out from the back of the dress-up closet. It's
not flattering, she's too pale (and not in a healthy way)
and her hair is a mess. I hope this is a wake up call to
her for the remaining of the awards season."

Kerry..... You have completely let me down..... Your hair and makeup looks spectacular! What happened to the rest?! There is just so much happening that I so not understand. From the cap sleeve to the odd waist embellishment to the sheerness of the lace in general and of course.... the HORRID length.... just no!
LeeAnne Locken: "So many things I LOVED and DIDN’T about this dress! First the color on TV was a GORGEOUS GOLD! In the photos it came across pale yellow. The length- WRONG! and the black panties underneath…. WTF! You pushed the envelope, RIGHT OFF THE CLIFF!"
Ken Weber: "Why Kerry Washington, Why? I've always been a huge fan of yours, but this is not good. From the neck up, gorgeous! Then, it's bwah-bwah. The sheer lace, the black spanx, grandmas brooches at the waist and then the length, It's just awful! It makes you look short and stocky. Shame on you Dolce & Gabbana for ruining this gorgeous woman."
Dawn Mellon: "Step 1: Remove the sleeves. Step 2: Remove the random embellishment. Step 3: the dress. Step 4: Live and learn."
Leah Frazier: "Took a risk but unfortunately it didn't pay off well. The large embellishment on the side definitely cheapened the already disastrous look."

It was like Carrie was planning on attending a high tea or maybe the Kentucky Derby or maybe was a float in the Rose Parade. How could this, usually edgy singer opt for such a basic, overly ruffled, pink disaster?! The only shining point of this look was her hair and the slight edge of the sheer side panels. The rest was an Easter disaster of biblical proportions.
Ken Weber: "You've heard of road kill? This is Georgia O'Keeffe kill. It looks like a giant pink O'Keeffe painting attacked her upper body. Great grandma's earrings aren't very exciting either."
Leah Frazier: "A little less ruffles go a long way. Besides the fact that I think the gown could have been tailored to her body better, less ruffles would have been perfect for a more sophisticated Golden Globes look."
Dawn Mellon: "Dear Carrie, please return the bride maid’s dress I wore in 1987. Thank you."
LeeAnne Locken: "The top of this dress ON TV was FABULOUS but I think the bottom of the dress got LOST! If it had perfectly straight and a little stiffer WOW,
or a soft full gown or train would have been better then
this… we didn’t know how to finish it so we just did this!
Or did you run out of fabric to do something FABULOUS
cause you used it all on the top? Meh!"

Where to even start.... Gucci what the hell is this?! Felicity, WHY did you think this was a good choice?! By far the worst thing of the evening. If the Corpse Bride met My Little Pony, this would be her.... Its a pink nightmare topped off with a bow.
Leah Frazier: "It's apparent she's going for fairy tale chic but this is one fashion fairy tale that has a not-so-rosy ending."
Dawn Mellon: "Felicity Jones or Felicity The American Girl Doll? Those who are familiar with the now-retired, colonial-inspired doll will understand my point…and my pain. As well love to say in the South, “Bless her heart.”
LeeAnne Locken: "WORST OF THE NIGHT!! Heartbroken this is Gucci and this is why Gucci isn’t Gucci without Tom Ford!"
Ken Weber: ".....this poor woman. What was she thinking. Gucci's latest collections have been complete eye candy as far as theatrics, but translation to the red carpet was a big no-no. Did she not step back from the mirror and think, "Wow, I l ook like a big wad of dirty Bubblicious"."
